Coventry Markets car park appreciation post. What an experience it is every time. For mine, the best way to experience it is coming in off Walter Road down this lane.
It really has that Normandy Beach landing feel as you wait in anticipation for your turn to enter the fray.
Once in the main car park, it’s every man, woman & child for themselves. Only the strong survive and strength is often measured in how quickly you can bang a sharp turn without indicating after seeing a bay become free. Or similarly, give the car behind you no warning you intend to reverse into the bay.
Although, it’s not just indicator-dodgers and shoddy reverse parkers, it’s the herds of roaming pedestrians with trolleys full of tailored garments, groceries and fish. While it may be possible to exit Coventry Markets without engaging in a demented staring competition with your receipt, it remains unproven.
Needless to say, the slow moving, diagonal drifting consumer-dugongs are quite the hazard.
Does the experience shave precious drops of your dwindling pool of joy? Yes, is it worth it? Also yes. With some of the best food in Perth, you can fill the void that the car park left with exotic delights under the watchful gaze of a koi fish that isn’t just tattooed onto some turbo’s arm.
