Tensions between North Melbourne and former player Wayne Carey were laid bare to the public recently with the club omitting him from their 100 year promo video.
It made people wonder if the high profile centre half forward’s long list of dog acts had finally become too much for the club.
Well The Times can now officially confirm those rumours as North Melbourne has reached out to Bunbury and brokered a 3 year deal for him to become Bunbury’s problem now. A spokesperson for North Melbourne told The Times,
“It wasn’t quite as lucrative as the home games deal at Hands Oval but we are after as much coin we can get. We can’t disclose how much we sold Wayne for but we can say that we think he’ll be a good fit down there”
Under the deal, Carey will get a chance to haunt the halls of Hands Oval as well as star in promos and meet & greets which is expected to really appeal to the community of men who have been caught with baggies full of “ibuprofen” at the Cas when they come down for a tear.
The AFL has given their blessing for the deal to go ahead and said it ushered in a new age of dealing with disgraced footy players. A spokesperson adding,
“The message is clear, if you don’t uphold the lofty standards of behaviour the AFL expects from you, we’ll dump in Bunbury or some other regional town to never be heard from again”
Who knows, in another life maybe Bendigo’s bid to buy Ben Cousins would’ve gone through.
