Commonwealth Bank has sensationally backflipped on a plan to slug customers a $3 fee for withdrawing their money via branch or post office after severe public outrage.
To recover the money they will lose from the backflip, Commonwealth Bank has turned its focus to another customer base who they reckon won’t protest so much.
Accordingly, anyone withdrawing between $400-$500 on a Friday to Sunday night will attract the fee. Over the holidays this will extend to every night of the week. CBA has created the range because they feel just because you got a good deal it doesn’t mean you should be exempt.
A spokesperson for Commonwealth Bank told The Times,
“When you’ve got yourself feeling some sort of way at after work drinks and have begun sniffing around for a bag, the last thing you’re concerned about is a banking fee. You’re racing down to the ATM to make sure you have the cash by the time your guy gets there”
Over the silly season, this $3 charge for bagfiends is expected to put the bank far into the green for their final end of year quarter.
We spoke to an affected customer who told The Times that he’s no stranger to using the pub ATM so there is really no difference. Adding,
“I copped a $4 transaction fee once so yeah, what’s the difference, they are a pack of dogs but when I’ve got lines on my mind literally nothing is going to stop me from reaching my goal. I hate my job and you can’t simply wear R.M Williams in the city without maintaining a reputation for enjoying a late night snortski”
The charge will be rolled out from tonight. Not that anyway is likely to notice.
