Which beach is Perth’s best has been a contentious issue among locals with almost no chance of reaching a consensus, until now.
Based on a comprehensive number of “beach quality criteria” such as sand, water quality, surf and vibe, there was a clear winner with a total of 99/100 points – Como Beach.
Como Beach is a short drive from the Perth CBD and has excellent access via walkways crossing the majestic Kwinana Freeway.
We spoke to one of the judges who said it was “barely a competition” and knew the crown would be going to Como from the minute he stepped onto the panel. Adding,
“A lot of people aren’t willing to accept that a patch of the Swan River is actually Perth’s best beach but it’s right there in the name. We couldn’t get enough of it especially given the limited space on the sand which creates an air of exclusivity”
We tracked down a Como resident who was “furious” that their little secret was out now. We spoke to a boomer who said the stink of the Swan is the secret to his success. Adding,
“How do you think I became such an affluent businessman with two properties in Como? I’d swim at Como Beach every morning and the other blokes in the negotiation couldn’t wait to get out of the enclosed room with me faster, they’d agree to anything!”
It will come as a surprise to no one that the announcement has sent waves of excitement through the international tourist scene. With tour operators in China, NZ and even our own east coast offering exclusive package deals to visit the new wonder of the world.
