Foxtel Group who own Kayo have been left red faced after it accidently informed residents of Two Rocks that they were classed as “very remote” and would therefore have their Kayo Sports & Binge subscription cancelled in March.
A spokesperson for Foxtel said the erroneous messages went out to customers in areas described as “very remote” by the ABS but got a few wrong. Adding,
“We won’t lie, we just looked at Two Rocks on the map and assumed it was included in that definition. Whoops. Turns out that North Two Rocks or Geraldton as it’s called also got the memo by accident”
Customers in Two Rocks were furious and said they demand to be treated with the same dignity as any other metropolitan suburb. A crusty saltdog told The Times,
“Mate, I’d been out fishing all morning and passed out after a few brekkie tins ha ha, woke up with the misso telling me to take a shower cos it stinks of fish and I said how you reckon I feel on our anniversary night ha ha. Yeah, nah, then I got the message I was getting cut off from Kayo and I lost it ay”
While they apologised, an insider at Foxtel maintains they did nothing wrong. With one source telling The Times,
“What kind of City is that, just quietly, we wanted to classify all of WA as too remote, bunch of backwater freaks”
Well, there you go.
