A staunch Flagmantle supporter has expressed a bittersweet mix of emotions today after the Dockers pummelled the Eagles in the 60th Western Derby.
On the one hand, it was great to win the official Freo Grand Final but on the other it takes a bit of steam out of his calls to sack Jlo which has been gaining momentum amongst fed up fans. He told The Times,
“I have one mission in life right now and that’s to get Freo a better coach. This win weakens that position somewhat as the Dockers aren’t going to sack a winning coach even if Freo should’ve won by 10 more goals. I’m conflicted. I’m not taking the A3 photo of JLo I printed and stuck to my toilet wall though, no matter what the misso says. I will get my man and I’ll hateshit to his face every morning”
While not wanting to admit it, the Flagmantle devotee secretly wishes for a different result. He confided in his mate after several froffs after the game. His mate told us,
“I thought we were having celebration froffs but I could see these were commiseratory for him. He opened up after one too many and whispered to me at the Camfield that he really wanted a loss. He even had the sack Jlo rant planned”
Then out of nowhere, old mate launched into an explosive tirade. Telling us how he really felt,
“WHY COULDN’T IT JUST GO TO PLAN! FREO LOSE. JLO OUT. FARRRRRRRKSAKEEE”
There can be no question that today’s result took some steam out of the sack JLo campaign but others in the movement say the win has only made them hungrier for change.
More to come.
