A Flagmantle fan has taken a few top layers of skin off after what his wife describes as “excessive showering” to wash away the stink of willing a West Coast victory yesterday.
While not quite the death knell for their season, a Baggers loss yesterday at Perth Stadium would have meant they kept their spot in the top 8 and the run into September would be easier.
For a long suffering Freo fan, making finals is everything and it was just enough motivation to do the unthinkable – want archrival’s West Coast to win.
We spoke to the man who had to call in late to work given he felt an unsatisfactory level of cleanliness even after his 8th shower since the match wound up. He added,
“It felt wrong and can I just make one thing clear, my preference was if both teams lost. Unfortunately, that’s not a possible outcome, so yes, I wanted the Eagles to win. The first quarter was so promising and then, well frankly, they Freo’d it”
To make matters worse, the Freo fan couldn’t even add as much enthusiasm to his characteristic booing of Eagles wingman Andrew Gaff. His wife told The Times,
“He still booed but his heart wasn’t really into it. He was a little happy Gaff was getting the pill as there was a chance the Eagles could score. Obviously as the game went on he become more and more agitated and blamed himself for his confused emotions”
We understand that the Freo fan intends to have a 9th shower in the work bathroom at lunchtime.
Never a good shower that.
