The recent announcement that Oasis were doing a reunion tour has got Gen X feeling extra frisky lately.
So much so, it has Bruce pondering where it all went wrong for subsequent generations and he thinks he’s got the answer.
We spoke to Bruce who said that society went to shit at the exact same rate as the decline of “the best slang word ever” – mintox. He told us,
“Economy is going to shit, international tensions are rising, America is a mess and TikTok exists generally. Don’t you see what has happened since people stopped saying mintox?”
He took a long breath as he flickered between intense nostalgic joy and bitter lamentation. He added,
“It was done, finished, gen X handed the world the mic drop of the lexicon. mintox is such a good word that I sometimes rub one out thinking about it. You kids wouldn’t understand but back in the day you couldn’t walk down the street without someone gleefully proclaiming something was mintox”
He went on to lament modern slang and got particularly fired up after reminding himself that “cossie lives” is a thing.
We couldn’t fault him on that one but to test the rigours of his claim we suggested that perhaps mintox went the way of the dodo because it wasn’t that great after all. He was quick to retort,
“Nonsense, the snowflake millennial mind just wasn’t able to comprehend its greatness. They never appreciate anything, if they did they’d have called one of their children mintox by now. What a great word. Have you ever heard of TISM as well?”
Well it’s hard to fault his passion.
