Max Gawn repeatedly mistaken for a Mandurah tradie while in town for Dockers match

Not only did Maxy’s team fail to go home with the scratch match chocolates but he has spent the better part of a few days being hassled by locals about when he’s going to come around and finish the concreting services he’d promised.

Naturally, the Melbourne superstar ruck hasn’t picked up a granno side hustle, he just effortlessly blends into the Mandurah tradie aesthetic. Alas, for half-cut Mandurians the resemblance is enough.

We spoke to a Mandurah resident who waited for Gawn to leave Lane Group Stadium before confronting him. He told The Times,

“Mate, so I go to the footy and what do you know? Melbourne have recruited fkn Macka! If he can play footy he can finish my damn slab! I tried to get close but apparently Mandurah tradies are doing so well they have security now, figures!!!”

This certainly wasn’t the last time Gawn would be bailed up about outstanding trade services. During his brief stint in the South West City he was confronted 7 times and offered 28 jobs.

We spoke to a local concreter who said there was big competition to get the star ruckman. Adding,

“A Mandurah tradie that rocks up on a Sunday to work? Not hungover? Mate, this is the golden goose. Anyone listening, I have a 8-ball signing bonus to whoever gets me in the same room as that super-tradie I saw playing on the weekend”

Naturally, Max Gawn is too good a bloke to let the people of Mandurah down. A spokesperson for the Melbourne Demons told The Times,

“Max won’t be returning home with the team because he’s agreed to help out a few oldies with some odd jobs. That’s the sort of man Max is. What he lacks in formal training he makes up in leadership. I think he’s also agreed to a 3 month contract to lay some slabs in Greenfields”
