Many doubt Peter Dutton’s claims that he can deliver nuclear power to Australia for just $331B.
After all, the CSIRO released a report stating that nuclear power would cost double the current plan of mixed fossil and renewable energy sources.
However, the starchy leader of the opposition says he found some really good plans while holidaying in Ukraine in 1986.
A spokesperson for the opposition told The Times,
“When Peter Dutton was in Pripyat he struck up a conversation with a local technician that said he worked at a nearby nuclear plant. He doesn’t know what happened to that guy but he did get the drop on some state of the art plans that are much cheaper than what’s being tendered today”
There is no doubt that construction of these soviet era plants would be cheaper and the technician even told the now opposition leader that you barely even needed to train the techs working on it. It was just that good.
Playing the devil’s advocate, we asked the opposition if they remembered how that story played out. To which they replied very sternly,
“THERE. WAS. NO. GRAPHITE. ON. THE. ROOF”
Well, that is a relief. Perhaps Australia’s nuclear future is looking bright after all.
