The citizens of Perth are chalking up a recent threat by the Joondalup people to boycott the train system over the “Yanchep Line” name change as a win.
The Joondalup citizenry is up in arms over the name change and has gone as far as to say Metronet is ripping the heart & soul out of their City.
We spoke to a proud Joondalupian who said the train station was the City’s no.1 tourist attraction and should remain the Joondalup Line, adding,
“What do you think about when you think of Joondalup? A train station, scummy eshays, and some English folk. That’s all we have, please don’t take that away from us”
Not everyone along the train line is cracking the shits though. We spoke to a Glendalough resident who said the proposed boycott was music to her ears, adding,
“Don’t threaten me with a good time. I’ll gladly fly the flag of the Yanchep line if it means I can avoid mixing with Joondalup residents on the system. What a success, well done Metronet”
We can report that Metronet was considering a compromise and naming it the Yanchep-Joondalup line but news of the boycott has given them a unique opportunity to win over public favour.
A spokesperson told The Times,
“Naturally we are happy with Joondalup residents using the train line but if the rest of the city supports the boycott then who are we to change the direction this is going in?”
Well said.
