Fast fashion king Shein has been given a last minute reprieve after Lakeside Joondalup decided to scrap the pop-up event that was scheduled for next week.
Perth’s largest landfill Tamala Park kindly offered to host the event in a move that is being heralded as “saving everyone a lot of time”.
Tamala Park is not only nearby the original site for the pop-up but will also give consumers the convenience of chucking the cheap shit directly into landfill after trying it on.
A spokesperson for Shein told The Times they were very happy with the arrangement, adding,
“This is great. Normally we have to wait for a consumer to wear our garments to a single event but now they can just try them on, get their photo, and feed the beast, as we like to say. More waste, more profit”
Not only will consumers enjoy the convenience of directly landfilling the clothes themselves but they’ll be able to browse last week’s fashion hits already in the steaming pile of rubbish.
We spoke to one of Shein’s biggest customers here in Perth and she told The Times that she applauded the initiative by Tamala Park,
“Thanks to Shein I don’t wear the same outfit twice. In fact, I’m able to change my fit every single hour and honestly, it ends up cheaper than buying a washing machine and all that jazz. If Tamala Park hadn’t saved the day I’d have to wait a day or two for my packages”
Local dads are also “chuffed” at the initiative. With many planning to load up their kid’s pockets with household waste to “sneak one past the keeper”. Adding,
“Saves me the entry fee. I’ll agree to drive my daughter and her friends there but they have to lug some shit through to the landfill for me. Everyone wins”
How good.
