The news that a container ship has hit the Leeuwin Tall Ship this morning has sent shockwaves though the community.
Seeing such a beautiful ship in its current state has distressed many so WA authorities have acted quickly to ensure the safety of another iconic vessel.
A spokesperson for the WA Police had confirmed that both marked and unmarked police vessels will be keeping an eye on the Crystal Swan and ensuring no container ships feel like a cruise down the river. Adding,
“It’s pretty unlikely a container ship will venture down the Swan River but we can’t take anymore chances today. No on our watch. Perth’s floating party cube will prevail!”
The extraordinary police operation has thrilled locals. We spoke to a Perth local who remembers over doing it on Passion Pop before their year 12 cruise on the ship. She added,
“It was such a magical cube to vomit off. A floating party cube exudes class and I think I added to that vibe. I think it’s a great use of tax payer money to protect it. We can’t lose another icon”
The Crystal Swan will be under police watch at least until the public finds out the fate of the Leeuwin. With everyone hoping she can be fixed.
