The organisers of WA Day have stirred the WA pot after it was announced Guy Sebastian would headline on Sunday of the two-day festival.
Guy Sebastian, famous for winning a reality TV show and not being from WA will perform in front of the WA crows with such hits as.. Well, no idea. Some shit.
It has sent a clear message to the WA music industry that WA Day really isn’t the sort of day to give a headlining spot to WA talent.
It’s not all bad news, however, with a full WA bill on the Monday but everyone knows that sloppy seconds is a meal best reserved for Eastern State infiltrators.
We spoke to a local Perth band who wished to remain anonymous as to not attract the wrath of Guy Sebastian’s entertainment industry connections. They told The Times,
“I guess it makes sense. Here we were thinking that the spot after Eskimo Joe could go to another WA band to really champion our music scene and get some exposure but yeah, I guess Guy Sebastian works too. Although does he? Does anyone in WA under the age of 50 listen to him? Will they even be going to a festival?”
WA Day is sponsored by BHP, WA Government and, Lotterywest. So we reached out to the Government to ask them if they were happy with the decision,
“Angels brought us here, woooo! That banger is going to go off! Why is everyone whinging? The organisers managed to get the man who out-performed legendary Shannon Noll! He’s a certified rock superstar!”
Christ almighty.
As for all the WA talent that missed out on performing on Sunday, maybe find a more suitable festival to express your interest in. Seriously, why would a celebration of WA call to celebrate WA?
Think about it.
